The Board of Regents Support Fund’s 2015-16 competition is underway, with proposals received during October and November across three programs and eleven subprograms. The Board has received a large crop of proposals, including 220 in Research & Development (Research Competitiveness, Pilot Funding for New Initiatives, Industrial Ties, Proof-of-Concept/Prototyping, and Awards to Louisiana Artists and Scholars), 169 in Enhancement (Traditional and Undergraduate), and 34 in Graduate Fellows (Traditional Graduate Fellowships and BoR/SREB Graduate Fellowships to Promote Diversity). In total, the proposals request approximately $34.2 million in first-year funds, almost four times the $9.6 million projected in the FY 2015-16 Plan and Budget to be available for these competitive programs. Review panels have been selected and will be evaluating proposals during the winter and early spring, to develop funding recommendations for the Board of Regents by mid-spring. Panel reports, which include funding recommendations and individual proposal assessments, will be posted on the Sponsored Programs website in early April, and taken to the Board for action at its April 2016 meeting.
