Curt Eysink served the State of Louisiana as the Executive Director of the Louisiana Workforce Commission from 2009 to 2016. He committed his efforts to preserving and continuing to improve the state’s public workforce system, aligning human capital with current and emerging economies, investing in Louisiana’s future workforce, promoting the Louisiana Occupational Forecast and Star Jobs System as national models, and ensuring that the people of Louisiana have an opportunity to get good jobs. He distinguished himself as a leader among his workforce peers around the country, ascending to the office of President of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies, unopposed, and receiving a national award for his work. Curt consistently demonstrated his staunch support for Louisiana education at all levels in general and public postsecondary education in particular, including being a champion of the Department of Education’s JumpStart Program; while serving on numerous state committees and commissions, including the WISE Council for higher education.
Curt exhibited an enduring spirit of cooperation and partnership. He actively served as a member of the Louisiana Board of Regents’ (BoR) Stakeholder Collaborative, provided input on the revised outcomes-based funding formula, contributed to the focus groups which led to Elevate Louisiana, and advocated for higher education as a public good. Curt continued his commitment to higher education and workforce preparation when he left the Louisiana Workforce Commission, by joining the Louisiana Community and Technical College System where he made strides to promote, support, improve and advance the role of community and technical colleges in the state.
At this month’s committee and board meeting, the BoR recognized and commended the work, and celebrated the life and legacy of Curt Eysink for his exemplary service to the State of Louisiana and his unyielding pledge to public postsecondary education and workforce readiness in the state and nationally. In recognition of his commitment to improving education and workforce development in the State of Louisiana, the BoR dedicated its Support Fund Endowed Two-Year Workforce Scholarships Subprogram in memory of Curt Eysink and extended its profound gratitude to his wife, Dianne Nodier Eysink; his children, Samantha, Maxwell, and Adelaide; his parents, Ute and Billy Eysink; brothers, Paul and Konrad; and the entire “Eysink Nation” for sharing Curt with Louisiana and the higher education community.
