The LA GEAR UP Comprehensive School Reform project, funded through LaSIP, provides a school-wide approach to the professional development of teachers. The project involves teams of two teachers from a K-12 LA GEAR UP school with the school’s guidance counselor(s). These teams work with faculty from their local institution(s) of higher education to develop comprehensive action plans to address the specific needs of the designated school. Comprehensive School Reform emphasizes gains in student achievement in LaSIP’s three core content areas: mathematics, science and ELA/adolescent literacy.
