LaSIP’s newest program, the Pilot Professional Development Project (PPDP), is designed to help underperforming schools accomplish goals identified in their School Improvement Plans (SIPs) or School Progress Plans (SPPs) required by the LA Department of Education and the Recovery School District-North. PPDP projects provide professional development for teachers and content coaches that promote systemic transformations in affected schools by requiring them to collaborate with one or more institutions of higher education to enhance the core content and pedagogy of math, science and/or ELA teachers, and ultimately to improve student scores on State high-stakes achievement tests. The PPDP was funded for three years, 2009-10 through 2011-12.
