Through Industrial Ties Research Subprogram funding, a researcher at LSU has isolated and sequenced the gene that could produce a novel vaccine against respiratory coronavirus in cattle. This initial phase has prepared the principal investigator to move forward toward development of immunizations that could be used throughout the industry. The success of this research, conducted with an industrial partner, has the potential to grow the local biotechnology industry, leading to jobs and other economic benefits to Louisiana.
