A top-ranked Industrial Ties Research Subprogram award, held by Dr. Chandra Theegala at the LSU Agricultural Center, will contribute to a critical 21st-century research area: biofuels. The project, “Cost-effective Cell Harvesting: The Primary Challenge for Microalgal Biofuels,” explores a technique for harvesting microalgae from liquid cultures to overcome the existing barrier of high cost in use of microalgae as a fuel source.
