Through LONI, the Louisiana Optical Network Initiative, researchers have access to one of the most advanced high-speed, fiber optic networks in the country. The network connects supercomputing resources among Louisiana’s major research universities and to the major national research networks, including Internet2 and TeraGrid, the backbone of national cyberinfrastructure. The connected universities include LSU, Southern University, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech University, University of New Orleans, Tulane University and Xavier University, along with the two LSU Health Sciences Centers in New Orleans and Shreveport and four universities in Mississippi.
