The Louisiana Delta Community College Division of Nursing has used an Enhancement grant to establish a nursing skills laboratory complete with equipment, supplies and patient simulators. Used by the nation’s most prestigious medical colleges and nursing programs, patient simulators help prepare students for the responsibilities and critical thinking abilities required of nurses and other healthcare professionals. The project is likely to have significant impacts on quality of life and the economy of north Louisiana, since the majority of associate’s degree nurses remain in the geographic area in which they receive their training.
