LaSIP uses NCLB monies to support projects likely to bring about lasting change since NCLB legislation does not support short-term professional development projects. Such projects usually lack breadth of coverage and conceptual foundation, and have minimal impact on classroom instruction. Workshops held in the summer months must have organized support for teachers during the academic year through classroom implementation by project teaching staff. Annual-year activities may include workshops, demonstrations and observations, debriefings, coaching and mentoring, and on-line assignments.
