A team of researchers at the University of New Orleans and Tulane University has used the results of research conducted through an Industrial Ties Research Subprogram award to leverage federal funding through the Department of Energy. The research, related to spintronic (magneto-electronic) applications, has also yielded a patent, owned jointly by the principal investigator and the industrial partner.
