Through a five-year P-KSFI Primarily Research Subprogram grant, a research team at LSU Health Sciences Center – New Orleans has established the Louisiana Vaccine Center (LVC), a Board of Regents-recognized Center of Excellence for vaccine research and development. This Center, funded with $5.5 million from the P-KSFI, has leveraged $51 million in new external grants from the National Institutes of Health and other federal agencies. In addition, the LVC has shown strong early results from its research commercialization efforts, yielding 18 invention disclosures in vaccine-related research, four provisional patents, and one international patent cooperation treaty.
