As you may be aware, the Board of Regents engaged the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), a national organization of and information source for campus business and finance professionals, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency of these programs in achieving their individual purposes, as well as the Support Fund’s constitutionally established goals of improving the quality of postsecondary education and contributing to Louisiana’s economic development. The consultants produced a full report, available here, encompassing an overview of the programs, strengths, challenges, and recommendations for the future.
As staff consider recommendations to the Regents for policy revisions based on NACUBO’s analyses, we are requesting feedback from current participants in these programs, including campuses and associated foundations. Anyone wishing to comment on aspects of the NACUBO report recommendations is invited to provide comments in the following ways:
• In writing to Carrie Robison, Deputy Commissioner for Sponsored Programs, to carrie.robison@laregents.edu. Written comments are due no later than October 27, 2023.
• By participating in a virtual listening session, which will consist of a brief overview by staff of major NACUBO recommendations followed by comments and discussion by participants. Four sessions will be held via Zoom:
October 13, 10-11 a.m. (VIDEO AVAILABLE HERE)
Registration for the listening sessions is required; to register, click your preferred date above and complete the brief registration form. Participation in listening sessions will be capped at 24, to ensure all attendees have opportunities to speak. Sessions will be recorded and made available for those wishing to hear discussions. If demand exceeds slots available, we will add sessions.
In November, staff will draft policy recommendations and circulate in December/January for any additional campus feedback. The Board will consider staff recommendations in spring 2024, following this iterative process.
