In 2003, after 13 years of research, the Human Genome Project was completed, creating a massive amount of raw data. So, now what? For decades to come, scientists will translate this data into a knowledge base to be used to develop diagnostics, therapies, and treatment methodologies. Dr. Sumeet Dua and his team of Louisiana Tech and LSUHSC researchers are utilizing EPSCoR CyberTools funding to decode genome data to identify parent genes of proteins, allowing scientists to treat genetic diseases on a sub-molecular level in the future.
