During the 2010-11 academic year, LA GEAR UP supported more than 150 special initiatives through Make A Difference Grants to partnership middle and high schools in 13 districts across the state. All Make A Difference Grants are based on individual school reform goals, as articulated in school improvement plans and district goal statements. This year, Make a Difference Grants funded projects ranging from Super Saturday Tutoring sessions to Academic and College Field Trips to Positive Behavior Programs.
