Researchers at Tulane University Health Sciences Center are pursuing research that promises to help in the treatment of glaucoma, one of the leading causes of blindness in the United States, through an Industrial Ties Research Subprogram (ITRS) award. The goal of the research is to develop a drug delivery system to aid in the healing process related to implantation of a glaucoma drainage device. The research has shown great promise in the early stages, with several journal articles submitted for publication and evaluation of the patentability of the invention.
