At its October meeting the Board of Regents approved a new component of the BoRSF Enhancement program – the Rapid Response Workforce Development subprogram – to help institutions with academic and training programs preparing students to meet urgent workforce needs generated by the recent $260B capital investments in the state. The subprogram targets five categories identified as highest need by LA Works: information technology, manufacturing, construction, transportation and warehousing, and healthcare. As a rapid response opportunity, grants will be limited to six months and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis provided the project scores at least a 70 via external review. A total of $2M has been allocated for this new offering.

Given the short timeframe, staff will host a brief webinar on Monday, November 2, 12:00-1:00 p.m., to provide basic information about the subprogram and answer questions from potential applicants.
